It’s been an absolute whirlwind of makings, doings, workings, sortings and general runnings about with very little me~time of late, but I managed to shuffle my hours at the day job and arrange for an after school playdate for the Bear, so I could whizz over to Kingston~On~Thames the other morning and have a little self~indulgent hour or two visiting the launch of Selina Lake’s new book, Pretty Pastel Style…
Look, that’s me that is, in one of the pics from Selina’s blog, waiting for the opening & having a natter with the very sweet Hen of Hen House…and would you believe, when I asked the lady in front where she’d travelled from, she had come from the same village as me, said in the same the way as I do, as if no~one will have a clue where I’m on about, and had to come to meet Selina’s Mum for lunch!…we might have squealed a little in surprise…’tis a small world indeed!
Aside from the lure of the book itself (indeed immensely pretty), saying hello to Ms. Lake, and a goody bag actually packed with gorgeous AND useful goodies, I was so looking forward to meeting some of the amazingly talented people whose work I so adore…

I’ve admired the works of Vicky Trainor & Tea with Ruby, two incredibly talented buddies from way up North, via facebook for a while now. Vicky creates beautiful stationary, homewares & gifts at The Vintage Drawer, and also runs The Linen Garden, & Jane (Tea with Ruby) is an amazing stylist and blogger whose photos are to die for. One of the things I’ve loved most since launching myself into business, blogging and social networking is actually meeting the people behind the words, photos and work, and since Vicky & Jane were both making the journey down for the launch, I was absolutely thrilled to have a natter with these lovely ladies…
I also got the chance to say very brief hellos to Nathalie at The U in Cute, Stephanie at Felt Mountain Studios, Emma at Mabel & Bird, Abigail Warner, Caroline at Patchwork Harmony, Lucy at Love Lane Vintage, Peach Blossom, Lucinda at Sesame & Lilly & Anna Wiscombe (little bit in love with everything I saw but I’ll be visiting Anna’s Etsy store for starters!)…

I’m sure there were a few people I missed sadly…I was in such a nervous, slightly awestruck tizz by the time I’d chattered, snapped a few rapid pics and stopped with Vicky & Jane, that, worrying about getting home in time for the Bear, and feeling a little wobbly (I may well seem confident on the outer, but I have to push myself to talk to people for the first time and it’s something I still find really hard to do), I dashed off at this point only realising 20 minutes down the motorway that I’d completely missed the scrumptious tea room and Yvonne from Yvestown. Gutted was putting it mildly as I adore Yvonne’s blog and had so wanted to say hello…I seriously considered a hard U~turn, but my time was most definitely up by this point!
Suffice to say, I made it home with enough time to calm myself, drool over the goody bag, and have a cuppa whilst drooling more over the book images, with a chirpy little smile that I’d had such a lovely morning, met some wonderful people and had a little space all mine own for a couple of hours. We all need it now and again, and it was well worth it…
Thanks for joining me ♥

And unfortunately, I’ve really not got a lot to say about this one either. I found it tedious to read, despite a few mildly amusing moments with the kids. I actually, didn’t even finish it in time for our BC gathering. I looked up the end! I think it just needed a bit more ooomph in the middle…it felt like a long drive to the twist at the end. Hey-Ho. This is why I like book club though, we read books we might not ordinarily choose ourselves, some we like, some we don’t.

This was Issue 9, and I was so excited about this one as it involved another little favourite of mine; the very delightful
